Job summary

Bayside Council in Sydney, NSW is seeking a Coordinator Asset Planning to lead the development and delivery of asset planning services for roads, stormwater, buildings and open spaces, coordinating capital works and asset management. Reporting to the Manager City Infrastructure, you will lead a team to deliver sustainable outcomes, engage with community and stakeholders, and align with council plans and policies.

This is a permanent full‑time role with a 9‑day fortnight.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary or other qualifications in a relevant field.
  • Proven leadership skills with more than 5 years managing teams.
  • Experience overseeing projects that improve community growth.
  • Strong understanding of government regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team projects in planning new and improved assets to deliver community services at sustainable levels.
  • Scope and develop a capital works prioritisation program and coordinate design briefs for assets.
  • Implement strategies to integrate asset management into Council plans.
  • Develop and monitor funding strategies, budgets and options for priority assets.
  • Develop and maintain asset systems and reporting to review service levels.
  • Engage with the community and stakeholders to define requirements and guide direction.

About The Role

Reporting to the Manager City Infrastructure, this role is responsible for the development and implementation of overall Asset Planning services to deliver appropriate and sustainable outcomes for a diverse and growing community.

The Coordinator Asset Planning will coordinate the effective development and management of asset related projects and programs for new and improved public infrastructure including roads, stormwater, buildings, and open space.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead team projects in the planning of new and improved assets to deliver services to the community at appropriate and sustainable levels.
  • Scope and develop a capital works prioritisation program, and coordinate design briefs to establish or renew Council assets.
  • Implement strategies to integrate asset management into Council’s community, delivery and operational plans.
  • Develop and monitor funding strategies, budgets and options to deliver priority city and community assets.
  • Develop and maintain assets systems and reporting to assist review of asset service levels.
  • Engage and consult with the community and Council’s stakeholders to identify their requirements and use this information to enable organisational direction, strategy and policy.
  • Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
  • Work in collaboration with and assist the team, manager and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
About You

As an organisational leader and role model you will be responsible for leading committed, motivated and engaged teams and individuals to develop strong connections and collaboration opportunities with a diverse local community.

We are looking for someone who has the following background and expertise:

  • Tertiary or other qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Proven leadership skills with more than 5 years managing teams
  • Prior experience overseeing projects leading improvement and growth of the community
  • Strong understanding of government regulations and policies

Salary

$131,983.30 to $147,821.23 pa, plus 12% superannuation
