Job summary

Whitehorse City Council is seeking a part-time cook to provide nutritious meals and snacks for children at our Centres. You will work 13 hours per week, specifically on Thursdays and Fridays, ensuring meals meet dietary and safety standards.

The role requires food handling certification, experience in food preparation, and the ability to manage purchases and meet timeframes while supporting a diverse menu and nutritional needs.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Food Handling with awareness of health and hygiene regulations.
• Experience in preparing meals and accurately purchasing supplies.
• Understanding of nutritional, religious and cultural requirements and allergies for children.
• Ability to schedule and distribute food to meet set timeframes.
• Good verbal and written communication to convey menu and purchasing information.

• Salary $34.65 per hour + 12% Superannuation

The role:

The position is responsible for the provision of nutritious, well balanced and attractive daily meals and snacks for children in the Centre.

You will be required to work 13 hours per week on Thursday and Friday.

About you:

To be considered for this position you will have:

• Certificate in Food Handling and awareness of statutory regulations in relation to health and hygiene, including the food safety plan.
• Demonstrated experience in food preparation as well as accurately purchasing and ordering supplies.
• Understanding of nutritional, religious and cultural requirements and food allergies for children.
• Ability to schedule and distribute food to meet set timeframes.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to enable effective interaction and clear communication of menu and purchasing information.
