Job summary

Catholic Healthcare Limited in Tumut is seeking a dedicated catering team member to prepare meals for residents and lead a team of catering assistants. You will manage resources, ensuring meals meet dietary needs and stay within budget, while maintaining high kitchen hygiene and safety standards.

Shifts are Saturdays and Sundays with every 2nd Monday, offering a stable schedule in a not-for-profit setting that recognises the value of community service.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) required.
• Basic Food safety Practices Certificate required.
• HACCP knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh meals for residents including dietary needs.
• Manage kitchen resources, equipment and supplies within budget.
• Maintain hygienic kitchen compliant with aged care quality standards.

As a member of the Catering team at Blakeney Lodge, Tumut, you will be preparing meals for our residents and managing an established team of catering assistants. This role includes overseeing the effective meal service to our aged care residents, as well as providing best practice service in kitchen cleanliness, documentation and food preparation.

About The Role

• Preparing fresh and nutritious meals for residents online with their dietary needs
• Managing all resources within the kitchen including equipment and food supplies within your approved budget
• Maintaining a hygienically clean kitchen that is fully compliant with the Aged Care quality standards

To be successful in this role you’ll need

• A kind heart and genuine passion for providing high quality care to the elderly
• Comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people
• Good communication skills
• A reliable team player
• Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
• Basic Food safety Practices Certificate
• Good understanding of food safety practices, kitchen cleanliness and hygiene
• Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) preferred
• To be able to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
• Able to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with residents and their families
• NDIS and Police check clearance or willing to obtain
