Calvary is seeking a qualified Cook to support our aged care kitchen in Townsville on a casual basis. You will prepare meals that meet residents' dietary, nutritional and cultural needs, while ensuring choice and quality in a welcoming environment.

Under the direction of the Chef Manager, you will help plan menus, monitor service, and supervise the team when needed. Relevant cooking qualifications and WH&S knowledge are essential.

Competenze

• Experience in aged care or healthcare settings is required.
• Knowledge of IDDSI and nutritional guidelines is desirable.
• Completion of food safety certifications (or willingness to obtain) is expected.
• Ability to cook meals in line with planned menus and dietary requirements.
• Understanding of WH&S and infection control practices is preferred.

Cook- Aged Care

We are seeking a qualified and professional Cook to provide support within our team. The Cook supports the home in the planning and preparation of all meals to ensure the individual needs of residents are being met and ensures that each resident is offered choice. We are looking for a candidate interested in taking employment on a casual basis.

About the role

In this role, you will assist with the preparation and delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals that meet residents’ individual dietary, nutritional, cultural and personal preferences. You will play an important role in ensuring residents enjoy delicious meals, receive choice and experience quality food service in a safe and welcoming environment.

Your main duties will include:

• Preparing daily meals and beverages that meet individual needs of each resident including special dietary requirements, allergies and culturally specific requirements
• Under the direction of the Chef Manager/Chef, monitor and suggest actions to continuously improve food service
• Assume responsibility for the effective running of the kitchen in the absence of Cook/Chef Manager including supervising the team to ensure effective outcomes
• Document resident’s requirements and any changes that may occur for each resident on shift as required
• Report food safety hazards/non-compliances to the Home Manager/ Chef Manager or Chef

About you

• TAFE Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or Certificate Level III in Food Studies (or working towards) is highlyDesirable
• Experience in aged care or healthcare setting
• Completion of (HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices) or willingness to obtain
• Knowledge of IDDSI and nutritional guidelines
• Ability to cook meals in line with planned menus
• Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control
• Ability to operate standard domestic and industrial kitchen equipment.
