Job summary

Join Fresh+ Cafe at Port Macquarie as a Full Time Cook. This role starts early (6:30am) and runs Monday to Friday, with evenings, weekends, and public holidays off. You’ll handle bain-marie and short-order cooking, prepare and present dishes, and uphold WHSmith hygiene standards.

The cafe values quality service and teamwork. Experience in hospitality and strong food-safety knowledge are preferred, with a Food Safety Supervisor Certification.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in food preparation and presentation within hospitality.
• Experience with bain-marie and short-order cooking highly desirable.
• Food Safety Supervisor Certification preferred.
• Strong HACCP and food safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Bain-marie/short-order cooking and food preparation.
• Presentation of ingredients and menu items.
• Maintain a clean workspace per hygiene standards.
• Report information to Cafe Manager regarding store operations.
• Maintain food safety, WHS & HACCP standards.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, receiving and compliance.

Join our team at Fresh+ Cafe at Port Macquarie! We are looking for an experienced and passionate Full Time Cook to join our team! This is paid under the FFIA award Level 3.

This is a Monday to Friday role but requires early starts (6.30am)

What being a Cook is all about:

• Bain-marie style cooking/Short-order cooking
• Food preparation and presentation of ingredients & menu items
• Maintaining a clean workspace in accordance with Food by WHSmith hygiene Standards.
• Reporting and communicating necessary information and feedback to the Cafe Manager regarding any and all aspects of store operations.
• Maintaining Food Safety, WHS & HACCP standards
• Assisting with kitchen operations, ordering, receiving and compliance requirements
• Supporting a positive and productive team environment

What our Stores would love to see:

• 1-2 years' experience in food preparation and presentation within a hospitality environment
• Experience with bain-marie and short-order cooking highly desirable
• Food Safety Supervisor Certification (preferred)
• Strong HACCP and food safety knowledge
• Experience managing stock control and food costs
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• A genuine passion for food and customer service
• Knowledge in fast paced retail operations with a focus on quality service.
• Warm, friendly, and outgoing personality.
• Great communication skills.
• Exceptional time management and multitasking skills.
