Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
  • Experience in a busy café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment is highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations and safety standards.
  • Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Availability to work weekends and public holidays as required.

  • Prepare ingredients, sauces, dressings and other components for service.
  • Ensure consistent food quality, presentation and portion control.
  • Maintain clean and organised kitchen workstations.

  • Assist with stock rotation, deliveries and minimise waste.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff during busy periods.
  • Assist with menu prep and support junior kitchen staff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, maintaining consistency in food preparation and presentation, supporting daily kitchen operations, and contributing to the high standards our customers expect.

The Garden Berry is a vibrant café, restaurant and bar located in the heart of historic Berry on the beautiful South Coast of New South Wales.

We are a relaxed social dining venue with a strong focus on fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce. Our kitchen takes pride in preparing quality house-made food from scratch and creating dishes that combine fresh ingredients with thoughtful preparation and presentation.

Our menu includes a variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, along with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We also prepare house-made sauces, dressings, preserves and other food components that reflect our commitment to quality and freshness.

We work closely with local suppliers, farmers and producers and are committed to delivering memorable dining experiences for both locals and visitors.

As we continue to maintain our high standards of food and hospitality, we are looking for an experienced Cook to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook high-quality breakfast, lunch and café-style dishes.
  • Prepare ingredients, sauces, dressings and other food components for service.

  • Good knowledge of food preparation, commercial kitchen operations and food safety standards.
  • Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for preparing high-quality food using fresh and seasonal ingredients.
  • Availability to work weekends and public holidays as required.
