Job summary

Holmwood Aged Care is seeking a part-time Cook to join our team. You will support the Head Chef, ensure meals meet the set menu and dietary needs, and uphold HACCP principles within budget.

The successful applicant will have Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, and willingness to obtain a Police Check, with Australian/New Zealand residency or valid work visa. Join a caring, supportive team dedicated to resident wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge and experience with HACCP and Food Safety implementation and review.
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role in aged care or hospitality.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to Workplace Health & Safety and ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef to ensure front of house staff provide high quality service to residents.
• Ensure food produced aligns with set menu and residents’ dietary requirements and allergies.
• Review HACCP critical control points and rectify any non-compliance.
• Complete cooking tasks accurately and timely to deliver meals.
• Contribute to development of the facility’s food safety plan in consultation with the Head Chef.
• Complete and record food safety audits/documentation as scheduled.

Job description

Holmwood Aged Care are currently looking for a Cook to join our team on a permanent part time basis.

About the role

The Cook will be responsible to perform cooking duties as required, delegated by the Head Chef to ensure that the food produced complies with current food safety and HACCP principles, is as per the set menu, nutritionally balanced and of the highest quality whilst remaining within approved budget.

The Cook will also be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Assist the Head Chef to ensure that front of house employees perform effectively and provide high quality waiting service for the residents.
• Ensure that the food produced is as per the set menu and according to individual resident’s dietary/specialised nutritional requirements and or known food allergens and tolerances.
• Ensure that HACCP critical control points are reviewed at set times of the day. Any non-compliance is immediately reported to the Head Chef and Facility Manager and is immediately rectified.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of all cooking tasks to ensure timely delivery of all meals services to residents.
• In consultation with the Head Chef contribute to the development of the food safety plan for the facility.
• Ensure that all food safety audits/documentation is correctly completed and recorded as per the required schedule.

About you

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

• Sound knowledge and experience with HACCP and Food Safety implementation and review.
• Demonstrated experience and proven skills in a similar role in the aged care sector or broader hospitality industry.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• A commitment to the principles of Workplace Health & Safety and ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.

The successful applicant will be required to have the following:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
• Willingness to obtain valid Police Check
• Australian/New Zealand residency or a valid working visa
