Job summary

Yackandandah Health in Victoria is seeking an experienced Cook to join our Residential Aged Care catering team on a part-time basis. You will prepare nutritious, home-style meals that meet residents' dietary needs and preferences, while contributing to a warm, enjoyable dining experience.

The role requires 1–2 years of aged care cooking experience, a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, and a willingness to obtain an NDIS Screening Check. Food Safety Supervisor training is desirable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years cooking in aged care or residential settings.
• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain.
• Food Safety Supervisor Course desirable or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals meeting dietary requirements and menu plans.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and presentation standards.
• Assist with menu planning and continuous improvement.
• Support kitchen operations, including stock control and ordering.
• Work collaboratively to ensure timely meal service.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join our Catering Team on a Part-Time basis. You will be working Wednesday and fortnightly Saturdays while assisting the team on Holiday Relief if required.

In this role, you will prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences, while contributing to a positive and enjoyable dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in line with dietary requirements and menu plans
• Ensure food safety standards, preparation, presentation and cooking techniques are established, monitored and maintained to meet current Food Concept guidelines
• Contribute to menu planning and continuous improvement
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation
• Support kitchen operations, including stock control and ordering
• Work collaboratively to ensure timely meal service

About you

• Previous experience as a Cook, minimum 1-2years in an aged care or residential setting
• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (mandatory minimum)
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Completed Food Safety Supervisor Course (desirable or willing to obtain)
• Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
