Job summary

Aegis Aged Care is seeking a casual cook to cover staff leave periods throughout October, with ongoing casual shifts available in the future. The role is based at Aegis Melville, in a modern working environment that focuses on delivering quality meals for residents.

You will organise kitchen staff, prepare residents’ meals according to dietary plans, manage stores and food storage, and ensure safe food handling practices. Full Australian working rights required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
• Experience in food preparation and cooking for a large number of people.
• Aged Care experience (highly regarded).
• A high level of food safety knowledge.
• Full Australian working rights and able to pass national police clearance.

Responsibilities

• Organising kitchen staff in the preparation and serving of meals.
• Preparing resident’s meals according to dietary plans and menus developed.
• Managing receipt of stores, and food storage according to the relevant regulations.
• Ensuring correct food handling techniques are always observed.

About You

You should ideally be an empathetic person who:

• Enjoys working with the elderly.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Is able to supervise, organise and guide staff, to deliver high quality catering outcomes.
• Has availability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts over weekdays and weekends.
• Can communicate effectively both verbally and written.

You should possess the following:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
• Experience in food preparation and cooking for large number of people.
• Aged Care experience (highly regarded).
