Job description

IoTics Pty Ltd is seeking a Control Systems Electrician/Technician to join their team!

This is a hands-on, trade-based automation role suited to an experienced industrial electrician ready to broaden their technical skillset into PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation and control systems. Candidates will work across multiple industrial sites and industries, take on real responsibility, and have the chance to progress technically, professionally and potentially into future leadership, all while being part of a close-knit team where individual contributions are genuinely noticed.

About IoTics
IoTics is an Australian industrial automation and electrical engineering business helping customers improve the reliability, efficiency and sustainability of their operations through smarter automation and connected technology. The team works across water and wastewater, utilities, food and beverage, manufacturing, mining and resources, and industrial infrastructure. IoTics is practical, collaborative and always looking for better ways to solve problems, with a culture that values genuine input and shared success.

What you'll be doing?

  • Diagnosing control system faults: Taking the lead on PLC and control system fault-finding, as well as SCADA and HMI troubleshooting, to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Supporting electrical breakdowns: Providing industrial electrical breakdown support and diagnosing complex electrical and automation faults as they arise.
  • Maintaining plant reliability: Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and identifying opportunities to improve plant reliability and performance.
  • Delivering upgrades and commissioning: Leading control system upgrades and modifications, along with PLC, HMI and instrumentation commissioning.
  • Providing remote support: Offering remote diagnostics and customer technical support to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Installing industrial systems: Completing industrial electrical installations and new control system installations and upgrades.
  • Testing and commissioning equipment: Ensuring electrical and automation equipment is properly tested and commissioned before handover.
  • Partnering with customers: Working directly with customers to resolve critical operational issues and build strong working relationships.
  • Contributing to projects: Supporting automation projects and continuous improvement initiatives across a range of industries.

Who are they looking for?

  • Electrical licensing: Holding a current A-Grade Electrical Licence is essential for this role.
  • Industrial experience: A minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience in industrial electrical maintenance, service or automation is sought.
  • Fault-finding capability: Strong electrical fault-finding skills gained within industrial breakdown and maintenance environments are highly valued.
  • Automation exposure: Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLC platforms is highly regarded, as is exposure to SCADA, HMI, VSDs, instrumentation or industrial communications.
  • Communication skills: Good English language and communication skills are needed when liaising with customers and other trades on-site, given the customer-facing nature of this role.
  • Driving and work rights: A valid Australian C-Class Driver's Licence and Australian working rights are required for this role, with visa sponsorship not available.
  • Flexibility for travel: As this is a field-based role across customer sites in regional South Australia, a willingness to travel and occasionally work after-hours or weekends to support breakdown coverage is welcomed.
