Job summary

I2R Group, based in Brisbane, is seeking an Automation Technician to deliver industrial automation and electrical control solutions for leading food, beverage, agribusiness and water projects.

You will work on Rockwell, Siemens, and Codesys PLCs, develop Ignition or Citect SCADA, and travel nationally for on-site commissioning.

This role requires strong PLC skills, good communication, and a commitment to safe working practices.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated PLC programming, commissioning and fault finding.
• Familiarity with Ignition or willingness to learn.
• Strong understanding of industrial control systems and SCADA platforms.

Responsibilities

• Deliver automation solutions across full project lifecycle—design, programming, commissioning and handover.

I2R Group is one of Australia’s premier Electrical, Automation and Control Businesses. Delivering services nations wide our team supplies complete Automation and Electrical Control packages to the Food and Beverage, Water/Waste Water and Agribusiness sectors.

We are currently seeking to employee an Automation Technician to join the I2R team.

As an Automation Technician, you will be working on industrial electrical controls projects for some of Australia’s largest food & beverage processors, Agribusiness and Water/Waste Water providers.

This position is based in the Brisbane, with occasional pre scheduled interstate travel.

As an Automation Engineer you will:

• Deliver automation solutions across the full project lifecycle — from system design and functional specifications through to programming, on-site commissioning, and handover
• Work on a variety of control systems including Rockwell, Siemens, and Codesys-based PLCs
• Develop and commission SCADA systems, including Ignition and Citect SCADA
• Troubleshoot and resolve control system faults across a broad range of industries
• Collaborate with clients and colleagues to deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose automation solutions
• Travel nationally to support on-site commissioning as required

The ideal candidate will:

• Demonstrated experience in PLC programming, commissioning and fault finding
• Familiarity with Ignition or a strong willingness to learn
• Solid understanding of industrial control systems and SCADA platforms
• Familiarity with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)
• Excellent computer literacy and technical aptitude
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A commitment to safe work practices and professional conduct
• Effective time management and the ability to adapt to changing priorities
• A logical, solution-focused mindset and a desire to continuously improve
