Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a Content Designer to contribute to accessible, audience-focused content across websites, intranet and email channels. You will advise on digital publishing, user experience, and use analytics to boost content performance and usability.

Working in a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will partner with business areas to review, migrate and redesign content as part of an intranet redevelopment project, delivering high-quality digital communications.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience creating high-quality, user-centred digital content with accessibility and usability focus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to gather content and business requirements from stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience using CMS and web publishing platforms such as SharePoint, Squiz Matrix, GovCMS or other enterprise systems.
  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Use of digital insights and performance data to evaluate content and optimise user experience.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure content is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose.

Job description

As the Content Designer, you will contribute to the development and optimisation of accessible, audience-focused content across websites, intranet and email channels. You will provide advice on digital publishing and user experience and use analytics and insights to improve content performance and usability. The role also contributes to the enhancement online channels by working closely with business areas to review, migrate and redesign content as part of an intranet redevelopment project.

Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of communicators, you will partner with business areas across the department to deliver high-quality, best-practice digital communication outcomes.

We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate the following key attributes:
  • Demonstrated experience creating high-quality, user-centred digital content, with a strong focus on accessibility, usability and audience needs.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders to gather content and business requirements from stakeholders of all levels.
  • Experience using:
    • content management systems and web publishing platforms, such as SharePoint, Squiz Matrix, GovCMS and/or other enterprise systems.
    • corporate web writing guides such as Australian Government Style Manual.
    • web analytics tools and platforms, such as Google Analytics, Acquia Web Governance, Siteimprove or
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, while managing competing priorities and agreed timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use digital insights and performance data to evaluate content, identify opportunities for improvement, and optimise user experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain quality standards, and ensure that content is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose.

  • The role may require occasional overtime, including evenings or weekends, by negotiation.
Qualifications
  • While not mandatory, a relevant qualification is highly regarded.
