Job summary

All Energy Contracting is seeking a Construction Surveyor to support the Laceby Solar Farm project in Northeast Victoria, on a 2:1 FIFO/DIDO roster, delivering precise survey services across earthworks to substation works.

Working with the Senior Project Manager and engineering teams, you will establish survey control, perform set-out for foundations and trackers, inspect tolerances, and manage GNSS/RTK data and as-built drawings, contributing to a landmark clean energy project.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Surveying; registration desirable.
• 4–10 years of construction surveying on large civil projects.
• Experience with solar/wind, BESS or substations is valued.
• Proficiency with GNSS/RTK equipment and robotic total stations.
• Knowledge of 12d Model, Trimble Business Center or AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Carry out set-out for piling, tracker rows, BESS foundations, substations.
• Perform pre-construction, progress and as-built surveys.

Position Overview

To help us deliver the Laceby Solar Farm project in Northeast Victoria, we are looking for a Construction Surveyor to join our onsite construction team, working a 2:1 FIFO/DIDO roster.

The Laceby Solar Farm integrates a 60 MW AC solar generation system with 240 MWh of battery energy storage, designed to deliver reliable, low-carbon power to the regional grid. Combining renewable generation and advanced storage to ensure firm, dispatchable clean energy, supporting grid stability and Australia’s energy transition.

Working closely with the Senior Project Manager, site management and engineering teams, you'll deliver accurate, timely survey services across all phases of construction, from bulk earthworks and civil works through to pile set-out, tracker installation, BESS foundations and substation works. This role suits a surveyor who takes pride in precision, works well under program pressure and wants to contribute to a landmark clean energy project.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain survey control networks across the site, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the project.
• Carry out set-out for piling, solar tracker rows, BESS and inverter foundations, substation infrastructure, access roads, drainage and underground cable trenches.
• Conduct pre-construction, progress and as-built surveys, including topographic surveys and earthworks volume calculations.
• Verify pile positions, heights and alignment against design tolerances, and report non-conformances promptly to site and quality teams.
• Process and manage survey data using GNSS/RTK, robotic total stations and industry software, and prepare set-out files, design models and as-built drawings.
• Review design drawings to identify discrepancies or clashes, working with engineers to resolve issues before they affect construction.

What you’ll bring to the team

• A degree or diploma in Surveying, Spatial Science or a related discipline; registration or progress toward registration is desirable.
• 4 to 10 years of construction surveying experience on large-scale civil, infrastructure, energy or resources projects. Experience on solar farm, wind farm, BESS or substation projects is highly regarded.
• Strong proficiency with GNSS/RTK equipment and robotic total stations (e.g. Trimble, Leica or Topcon), with experience in machine control and UAV surveys an advantage.
• Solid working knowledge of survey and design software such as 12d Model, Trimble Business Center or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• A sharp eye for detail and a thorough understanding of construction tolerances, QA processes and as-built requirements.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.
