Job summary

DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor/Estimator to join a Queensland Government team in Rockhampton. The role combines estimating, project coordination, contractor supervision, and site inspections to support delivery across the region.

You will ensure WHS compliance, prepare tender documentation, develop construction programs, and coordinate offices and subcontractors to achieve project outcomes on time and within budget.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor/Estimator to join a Queensland Government team in Rockhampton. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction, trade, maintenance, or building professional to contribute to the delivery of government building projects, maintenance programs, and asset management services across the region.

This role combines estimating, project coordination, contractor supervision, building inspections, and workplace health and safety responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality tender and quotation documentation for building projects.


• Develop accurate estimates, quotations, material schedules, trade packages, and construction programs.


• Supervise and support the delivery of construction, maintenance, and upgrade works.


• Coordinate office staff, field staff, and subcontractors to ensure successful project outcomes.


• Conduct building condition assessments, inspections, and surveys.


• Collect samples of suspected asbestos-containing materials for laboratory testing where required.


• Undertake tenancy management inspections and maintenance referrals for Government Employee Housing.


• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures.


• Participate in WHS audits, site inspections, and plant and equipment checks.


• Promote client services and identify opportunities to enhance service delivery.


• Support staff performance, development, and workplace conduct management.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Experience in building maintenance, construction, project supervision, estimating, or asset management.


• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.


• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder relationships.


• Strong communication and organisational skills.


• Sound computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.


• Experience working with contractors, tradespeople, and government or commercial clients.

Mandatory Requirements

• Current Workplace Health and Safety General Safety Induction Card (White Card).


• Current driver's licence.


• Trade Licence qualification preferred.


• Computer skills
