Qualifications

Mount Isa Mines is currently looking for a skilled and experienced individual to join us in the role of Construction Operator within the Fixed Plant Maintenance department at George Fisher Mine. This role will be residentially based in Mt Isa and will consist of the roster 7/7 day shift only.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Specialist, you will be required to work safely to conduct all tasks associated with Shaft and Hoists. You will be required to operate in a safe manner, and assist in delivering key performance indicators and targets whilst maintaining a high level of housekeeping. You must hold a current manual drivers' license and possess a proactive attitude toward safety. The ideal person will have experience in underground fixed plant operations & maintenance and the ability to follow relevant processes and procedures. This role will be residentially based in Mt Isa and will consist of a

Your key responsibilities include:

• Responsible for the assisting with department projects and structural repairs within fixed Plant
• Assisting the fixed plant mechanical crew with day to day works when required
• Assisting with planned and unplanned shutdowns
• Responsible for following safety practices and procedures when undertaking work
• Compliant with GFM policies, standards, procedures when undertaking work
• Identification of continuous improvement opportunities.

• Strong focus on completing the job safely, efficiently and to a high standard
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
• Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail
• Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Current Manual driver's license
• Experience in mining/underground operation
• Ability to work at heights and good mechanical aptitude
• Intermediate to advanced rigging desirable
• A Forklift ticket would be desirable
• Basic oxy cutting and welding experience would be an advantage
• Mechanical trade (fitter or boilermaker) an advantage
