Job summary

INTEC Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Construction Manager for the Lower Wonga BESS & Solar PV project in the Gympie region of Queensland. You will lead day-to-day construction activities, coordinate subcontractors and OEMs, and ensure work is delivered safely, on time and to required standards.

Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, you’ll drive planning, readiness, commissioning support and handover activities, shaping a high-performing on-site team across BESS and solar

Qualifications

• A degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 6+ years' experience in construction management or site supervision within renewables or major construction projects.
• Proven experience delivering BESS, HV, electrical infrastructure or energy projects.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Current Construction White Card, Driver's Licence and First Aid Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day BESS and Solar PV construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with project requirements.
• Support mobilisation, site access, laydown areas, temporary facilities and logistics.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers and OEM representatives on site, coordinating resources and materials to maximise productivity.
• Monitor progress against milestones, identify risks and support look-ahead planning and resourcing.
• Champion safety culture and ensure WHS compliance and project HSE plans.
• Drive quality and construction documentation, inspections and NCRs.
• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning and energisation readiness and handover.
• Provide leadership to site supervisors and contractors, fostering a high-performing on-site culture.

As our Australian operations continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join our team at the Lower Wonga BESS & Solar PV project in the Gympie region of Queensland.

Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, this is a hands-on leadership opportunity to take responsibility for the planning, coordination and delivery of major BESS and Solar PV construction activities, working across subcontractors, OEMs, engineering, HSE, commissioning and other project stakeholders.

About The Role

As Construction Manager, you'll provide hands-on leadership across the Lower Wonga project, coordinating construction activities from mobilisation and site preparation through equipment installation, electrical works, testing readiness and commissioning support.

You’ll manage subcontractors, OEM representatives and specialist contractors on site, coordinate multiple work fronts and interfaces, and ensure construction activities are delivered safely, to the required quality standards and in line with project milestones and contractual requirements.

This is a key site leadership role, responsible for driving construction progress, managing complex project interfaces and supporting the successful delivery and handover of a major renewable energy project.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day BESS and Solar PV construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved designs, specifications and project requirements.
• Support project mobilisation and construction readiness, coordinating site access, laydown areas, temporary facilities, logistics, equipment deliveries and early contractor mobilisation.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers and OEM representatives on site, coordinating work fronts, resources, plant and materials to maximise productivity and maintain programme.
• Monitor construction progress against project milestones, identify schedule risks and recovery opportunities, and support short-term planning, look-ahead schedules and resource forecasting.
• Champion a strong safety culture across the project, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, project HSE plans, environmental requirements and INTEC procedures, including the management of BESS-specific electrical, battery handling, fire and energisation risks.
• Drive quality and compliance across construction activities, including inspections, ITPs, NCRs, punch lists, corrective actions and construction documentation.
• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning and energisation readiness, ensuring construction documentation, quality records, defects and handover requirements are completed.
• Provide leadership and direction to site supervisors, subcontractors and construction personnel, fostering a collaborative, accountable and high-performing site culture.

About You

We're looking for an experienced construction leader who combines strong site management capability with a proactive approach to safety, quality, programme delivery and stakeholder management. You will have:

• A degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, or an equivalent trade qualification with significant relevant experience.
• Minimum 6+ years' experience in construction management or site supervision roles within renewable energy, electrical infrastructure or major construction projects.
• Proven experience delivering BESS, HV, electrical infrastructure or energy projects, with experience in hybrid Solar PV and BESS projects highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of BESS construction methodologies, electrical systems and commissioning requirements.
• Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors, OEM representatives and specialist contractors within an EPC delivery environment.
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, ITPs and construction documentation.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Experience supporting energisation, commissioning and project handover activities.
• A current Construction White Card, Driver's Licence and First Aid Certificate.
• A 'can do' attitude, with the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems and deliver sustainable improvements.
