Job summary

The Housing Industry Association Limited is seeking a Construction Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets and tender pricing for building projects in Victoria, Australia. You will review drawings, calculate quantities, obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations, and support tender submissions and project planning.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building and Construction Estimating, or a closely related discipline.
• At least one year of relevant experience involving construction estimating, quantity take-offs, budgeting or tender pricing.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with careful attention to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents to identify estimating requirements.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and calculate material, labour, plant and subcontractor needs.
• Develop itemised construction cost estimates, preliminary budgets and tender pricing.
• Request and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations, ensuring scope coverage and consistency.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers and site personnel to clarify technical information.
• Revise estimates as design changes or updated quotations occur.
• Prepare estimating summaries and cost breakdowns for management review.
