This 2-year Concreting Traineeship is the perfect opportunity to kick-start your career while making a real difference in the Lake Macquarie community. As a Concreting Trainee, you'll gain hands-on experience in a variety of concreting and construction activities, including footpaths, cycleways, formwork, steel fixing, traffic calming devices, kerb and channel construction (by hand and machine), driveways, drainage pits, pedestrian ramps, median islands and pedestrian refuges.
Through a combination of on-the-job training and formal study, you'll develop the practical skills and industry knowledge needed for a successful career in concreting and civil construction, while learning to safely operate tools, equipment and machinery.
This exciting position will see you:
Assist with a broad range of concreting and civil construction works, including maintenance and renewal projects.
Operate small plant and equipment under supervision.
Learn and apply concreting techniques, including screeding and finishing concrete across a variety of projects.
Work collaboratively as part of a skilled and supportive team.
Complete administrative tasks associated with the role, including timesheets, daily diaries, checklists and inductions.
Undertake all work in accordance with relevant quality, environmental and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
Develop industry-recognised skills and knowledge through formal training and practical experience.
This position is based at Council's Works Depot and involves travel to sites across Lake Macquarie. Hours are 6:00am to 3:30pm, Tuesday to Friday, with occasional weekend work required with notice.

To be successful, you'll have:
Completion of Year 10 (Record of School Achievement) or equivalent, with satisfactory results in English and Mathematics.
A White Card (Construction Induction Card) or the ability to obtain one before commencing.
Current Provisional Drivers Licence
