Job summary

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in a compliance, AML/CTF, KYB or KYC role.
• Understanding Australia’s AML/CTF obligations and how they apply to customer due diligence.
• Strong grasp of company structures including private/public companies, trusts, partnerships, associations and sole traders.
• Experience running verification cases independently from first review to decision.
• Clear, professional communication with customers about what’s needed and by when.
• Reputable for being organised and dependable with customers and colleagues.
• Comfort with ambiguity and good judgment when cases don’t fit neatly.

Responsibilities

• Own KYB (Know Your Business) & KYB end-to-end.
• Review new customer profiles, assess risk, run KYB/KYC checks, apply AML/CTF requirements.
• Keep customer base current; perform periodic re-KYB and enhanced due diligence when needed.
• Be the customer’s point of contact; guide verification and data requests, explain needs clearly.
• Collaborate with Sales and Support to hand customers over and support onboarding.
• Manage external providers day-to-day to resolve cases and keep verification moving.
• Identify friction in KYB processes and propose improvements to Product Manager.
• Know when to escalate, with a clear issue view and a recommendation.

As a Compliance Analyst at Weel, you'll be one of the first people a new Weel customer works with. You'll guide businesses of every shape, from sole traders to trusts to not-for-profits, through verification and into full account access.

For each customer you'll review their profile, weigh their risk and work out what's needed to get them approved, balancing what the regulations require with a smooth experience for the customer.

You'll work across both, and with Sales, Support and Product, to keep onboarding compliant and moving.

What you'll do

• Own KYB (Know Your Business) & KYC (Know Your Customer), end to end.
• Review new customer profiles, assess their risk and run KYB/KYC checks independently, applying AML/CTF requirements to each case.
• Keep the existing base current. Run periodic re-KYB on existing customers, including enhanced due diligence where a customer's risk calls for it.
• Be the customer's point of contact. Guide businesses through verification, follow up on outstanding documents and data requests, and explain clearly why we need what we're asking for.
• Work closely with Sales and Support. You will pick up customers from Sales at handover and support them through KYB and into onboarding, so no one gets stuck or lost.
• Managing our external providers day to day to resolve cases, chase decisions and keep verification moving.
• Make the process better. Spot friction and inefficiency in how we run KYB, and bring clear, well-evidenced ideas to the Product Manager to take forward.
• Know when to escaltate, with a clear view of the issue and a recommendation.

What you'll bring

• 2–5 years in a compliance, AML/CTF, KYB or KYC role, ideally in fintech, payments or financial services
• A working understanding of Australia's AML/CTF obligations and how they apply to customer due diligence
• A strong grasp of company structures, including private and public companies, trusts, partnerships, associations and sole traders, and how to identify beneficial owners across them
• Experience running verification cases independently, from first review through to decision
• Clear, professional communication, with the confidence to be direct with customers about what's needed and by when
• A reputation for being organised and dependable, with customers and colleagues alike
• Comfort with ambiguity, and good judgement when a case doesn't fit neatly into the process

Nice to have

• Experience with BronID or similar verification tools
• Experience working with a payments partner, sponsor bank or licence holder
• Experience running re-KYB or ongoing customer due diligence programs
• Experience working alongside Product to improve an onboarding flow
