Job summary

ACCORD CARE in Ipswich, QLD, Australia seeks a compassionate Disability Support Worker for complex care, including dysphagia, Huntington’s disease and FND. You will provide person-centred support, assist with daily living, mobility and health-related needs, and follow individual plans across morning, afternoon and sleepover shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing Dysphagia Management Plans and mealtime strategies.
• Knowledge of choking risks, safe swallowing practices and emergency procedures.
• Experience supporting Huntington’s disease or other progressive neurological conditions.
• Experience using Sera Steady equipment and safe transfers.
• Understanding of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) or related support.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support with daily living activities and personal care.
• Follow Dysphagia Management Plans and mealtime guidelines.
• Support safe swallowing, note changes in health and presentation.
• Assist mobility, transfers and positioning with equipment.
• Document progress notes and reports accurately.
• Deliver respectful, patient, consistent care in a disability setting.
• Follow individual support plans and medication procedures where trained.
