Job summary

Soteria Independent Living is seeking Complex Behaviour Support Workers for our SIL homes in Ipswich, QLD. The role focuses on participants with high complex behaviours, implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and trauma‑informed, person‑centred care.

You will work within a supportive team, ensuring safety, dignity and consistent, high‑quality support. Applicants must have NDIS experience in SIL, strong collaboration skills with families and allied health teams, and hold a current

Qualifications

• NDIS experience with complex needs, preferably in Supported Independent Living (SIL).
• Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and de-escalation strategies.
• Strong understanding of trauma‑informed, person‑centred, and rights‑based care.
• Solid knowledge of restrictive practices, NDIS authorisations, boundaries and confidentiality.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and transport requirements.

Responsibilities

• Strictly follow established routines, care plans and behaviour strategies.
• Maintain accurate, factual progress notes and documentation.
• Identify and escalate changes in participant wellbeing or safety risks.
• Collaborate with the support team and respond to management directions.
• Commit to a 24/7 SIL roster including mornings, afternoons, weekends and overnights.

Support Workers who are experienced in supporting clients with high complex behaviours are needed !!

Skills & Experience

• NDIS Expertise: Previous experience supporting participants with complex needs, preferably in Supported Independent Living (SIL).

• Behaviour Support: Proven experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and proactive de-escalation strategies.

• Practice Knowledge: Strong understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred, and rights-based care practices.

• Compliance: Solid knowledge of restrictive practices, NDIS authorisations, professional boundaries, and confidentiality.

• Credentials: Hold a current Australian driver's licence and meet all relevant transport requirements.

• Emotional Maturity: Calm, patient, and professional with excellent emotional regulation under pressure.

• Communication: Exceptional communication skills with a respectful, collaborative approach to all stakeholders.

• Relationship Building: Proven ability to build trust with participants, families, guardians, and allied health teams.

Operational Duties

• Routine Management: Strictly follow established daily routines, individualised care plans, and behaviour strategies.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate, factual, and objective support documentation and progress notes.

• Risk Escalation: Actively identify and escalate any changes in participant wellbeing or safety risks.

• Team Alignment: Work collaboratively within the support team and accept direction from management.

• Roster Flexibility: Commit to a 24/7 SIL roster including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and overnights to ensure continuity of care.
