Job summary

Purple Patch Consulting in Brisbane, Australia, is seeking a Support Worker with experience in complex behavioural support. You will work with NDIS participants across Northside Brisbane who may display complex behaviours and require compassionate, person-centered care.

The role emphasises understanding behaviour as communication, following Behaviour Support Plans, recognising triggers, and using proactive strategies to reduce escalation.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours of concern.
• Knowledge of Behaviour Support Plans and triggers.
• Ability to de-escalate and regulate in challenging moments.
• Engagement with families, clinicians and support teams.
• NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid/CPR and child-safe clearances.

Responsibilities

• Build genuine, consistent relationships with participants
• Follow individual Behaviour Support Plans
• Recognise triggers and early warning signs
• Use de-escalation strategies when needed
• Support participants through dysregulation
• Implement positive behaviour support strategies
• Support daily living skills and independence
• Assist with personal care where required
• Support community access when appropriate
• Maintain progress notes and incident documentation
• Communicate effectively with families, clinicians and the broader team
• Follow safeguarding and organisational requirements
