Job summary

You will handle calls, bookings, and patient records, process payments, Medicare claims, and liaise with doctors and staff. A calm, patient-focused approach and 3 years healthcare admin experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' medical reception or healthcare administration experience.
• Excellent communication and a calm, compassionate approach.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a busy workload.
• Confident using computers, email and practice management software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a warm, respectful and professional manner.
• Answer phone calls, respond to enquiries and direct calls appropriately.
• Manage appointment bookings, cancellations and changes using the practice appointment system.
• Maintain accurate patient records and update personal, Medicare and billing details.
• Process payments, Medicare claims, EFTPOS transactions and invoices in line with practice policy.
• Scan, file and distribute documents, correspondence and clinical information accurately.
• Liaise with doctors, nurses, allied health providers and external organisations as required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow practice policies and procedures at all times.
• Support the smooth running of the reception area and assist with general administration duties.
