Job summary

Silverchain is seeking a Care Worker to support aged care clients in Camden and surrounding suburbs. The role focuses on home help and personal care, including housekeeping, meals, mobility assistance and medication support.

We value independent workers who can handle varied days, build strong client relationships, and adapt to family needs. CPR/First Aid training and a driver’s licence are preferred as you will travel to client homes.

Qualifications

• At least 3 months experience in a similar professional role in personal care.
• Valid Australian driver's licence and own insured, roadworthy vehicle.
• Experience with personal care tasks, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

Responsibilities

• Provide home help services such as housekeeping, bed making, cleaning, laundry and meal preparation.
• Deliver personal care including getting clients out of bed, showering and dressing, and helping with medications.
• Support mobility, transport clients to activities, and assist with therapy goals.
• Offer social and emotional support and build positive relationships with clients and families.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for people who:

• Can build positive relationships with clients and their families.
• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Experience of 3 months or more in a similar professional role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
