Job summary

Aveo is hiring a Cook to assist in preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for residents in a retirement living setting. You will follow menu plans, meet dietary needs, and ensure food safety standards while building meaningful connections with residents.

You'll join a supportive team committed to wellbeing and community. This part-time role offers varied shifts, opportunities to contribute to residents’ daily life, and a chance to grow within a respected retirement living group.

Qualifications

• Experience as Kitchenhand/Cook/Chef in a similar setting (hospitality or commercial kitchens).
• Ability to follow set menus and adapt meals for dietary requirements.
• Strong communication skills and genuine interest in connecting with residents.
• Enthusiasm for working in retirement living and making a positive impact.
• COVID-19 vaccination (minimum two doses) required.
• Certificate in Commercial Cookery and/or Food Safety certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present meals that meet quality and presentation standards.
• Follow pre-set menu plans while accommodating dietary needs and preferences.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen in line with food safety requirements.
• Support stock control, food storage, and waste minimisation practices.
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Build meaningful connections with residents, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
