Job summary

Osborne Richardson is assisting Melton City Council in recruiting two Rangers (Community Safety Officers) on a contract basis. The role balances education with enforcement across the municipality, addressing animal management, parking control, litter, and fire prevention.

You will respond to complaints, patrol the area, inspect facilities, and help residents find practical resolutions while representing Council professionally in diverse situations.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or higher with relevant experience in statutory compliance and animal control.
• Strong knowledge of applicable laws including Road Safety Act and local government acts.
• Ability to prepare briefs of evidence and represent Council in court proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to residents on compliance matters and respond to complaints.
• Patrol the municipality to ensure compliance with local laws and issue notices as required.
• Conduct inspections of animal facilities and animal-related premises.
• Monitor and enforce legislation relating to parking, litter and fire prevention.
• Prepare detailed briefs of evidence and represent Council in court proceedings.
