Job summary

Tweed Shire Council in Murwillumbah is seeking a Ranger Services professional to enforce local laws and support community safety, liveability and amenity. You will handle animal management, parking enforcement, public space compliance and related investigations, working from a Council vehicle in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

The role emphasizes sound judgment, problem-solving, and delivering high-quality customer service while engaging daily with residents to achieve practical outcomes.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or demonstrated experience in an associated field.
• Eligible to obtain a Tranquiliser Firearms Permit.
• Strong written communication, able to prepare clear reports for a wide range of audiences including for enforcement proceedings.
• Works well in a team, manages priorities effectively, and performs confidently without supervision.
• Excellent verbal communicator who can stay calm and effective in conflict situations.

Responsibilities

• Enforce a range of local laws and legislative requirements.
• Conduct inspections, investigate complaints, identify non-compliance and take enforcement action where required.
• Work independently across the Tweed from a Council vehicle, managing priorities in a varied and fast-paced environment.
• Engage with community members daily, providing professional customer service and resolving challenging situations with confidence and professionalism.
• Prepare accurate records, reports and documentation in line with legislative and Council requirements.
• Participate in a rotating seven-day roster, with shifts across weekdays, weekends and public holidays as operationally required.
