Job summary

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is seeking a Community Recovery and Resilience Officer to work with communities, services and Council teams to deliver practical recovery initiatives. The role is a temporary contract until June 2028, with a focus on community-led recovery and long-term resilience in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region.

Qualifications

• To be successful, you will have a Certificate IV in Community Services, Community Development, Recovery Management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
• Proven experience coordinating projects or community programs.
• Proven ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Planning, delivering and evaluating community recovery and resilience programs and events.
• Working with communities to identify local needs and translating them into practical work plans.
• Establishing and supporting the Community Resilience Network across partners and Council.
• Developing and sharing information that connects people with recovery services and resources.
• Identifying grant opportunities and ensuring funded projects meet requirements.
• Managing budgets, contracts, timelines and risks.
• Using data and feedback to evaluate initiatives and inform improvements.
• Transitioning successful initiatives into ongoing Council and community programs.
