Job summary

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is seeking a Community Recovery and Resilience Officer on a temporary contract until June 2028. The role involves leading community recovery initiatives, coordinating multiple stakeholders and ensuring programs are locally informed and resilience-focused.

35 hours per week with hybrid work arrangements. The role requires a Certificate IV in a related field, proven project coordination, strong communication, and a current Class C Driver Licence.

Qualifications

• A Certificate IV in Community Services, Community Development, Recovery Management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating projects or community programs.
• Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A current Class C Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Planning, delivering and evaluating community recovery and resilience programs, activities, initiatives and events.
• Working with communities to identify local needs, strengths and priorities and translating these into practical work plans.
• Establishing and supporting the Community Resilience Network, bringing together communities, service providers, businesses, government agencies and Council teams.
• Developing and sharing accessible information that connects people with available recovery services, supports and resources.
• Identifying and supporting grant-funding opportunities and ensuring funded projects meet relevant requirements.
• Managing project budgets, resources, contracts, timelines and risks.
• Using participation data, community feedback and program outcomes to evaluate initiatives and inform continuous improvement.
• Supporting the transition of successful recovery initiatives into relevant Council and community programs so that positive outcomes can continue beyond the immediate recovery period.
