Job summary

Anglicare Central Queensland Limited | Rockhampton

We are seeking two Community Practitioners to work with children, young people and families, delivering counselling and strength-based interventions to improve wellbeing and resilience in Central Queensland communities.

You will engage with carers and families, build skills for positive child care, and collaborate with care teams to support placement stability and wellbeing. A strong focus on relationships and outcomes is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or postgraduate qualifications in Psychology, Counselling or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a counselling or therapeutic based role, or ACA Registered Counsellor with 3 years experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Engage young people, carers and families through counselling and strength-based interventions to improve wellbeing.
  • Assist families to develop knowledge and skills to provide positive care for children and young people.
  • Promote and develop positive working relationships with stakeholders and networks to support young people and families.
  • Collaborate with a young person and their care team to support placement stability and wellbeing.
  • Support young people to manage behaviours through guidance and goal setting.
  • Deliver educational programs to build knowledge, skills and confidence in parents and carers.

In thisrewarding role, you'll work alongside young people, carers,families and key stakeholders to build reslilience, stregnthenrelationships and create positive outcomes for children and peoplewho are subject to child protection interventions. What will atypical day look like?

  • Engage youngpeople, carers, and young people’s families through the use ofa range of counselling and strength-based therapeuticinterventions, tools, perspectives and strategies to improvewellbeing
  • Assist families todevelop knowledge and skills to provide relevant and positivecare for children and young people
  • Promote and developpositive working relationships with stakeholders and networksto improve support for young people, carers, and young people’sfamilies
  • Workcollaboratively with a young person & their care team to helpsupport placement stability and wellbeing of youngperson
  • Support youngpeople to manage maladaptive and challenging behaviours throughsupporting young people to identify worries and issues andsetting mutually agreed and achievable goals
  • Contribute to andfacilitate the delivery of educational programs to encouragethe development of knowledge, skills and confidence in parentsand carers to provide care to children and youngpeople
MandatoryRequirements:
  • Bachelor orpost-graduate qualifications in Psychology, Counselling orequivalent with;
    • Minimum of1 year experience in a counselling or therapeutic basedrole, or
    • Is a level2 (or above) ACA Registered Counsellor with 3 years'experience or equivalent.
