Job summary

Public Sector People is partnering with a local government organisation to recruit a Library Assistant on a 3‑month contract with an immediate start in Sydney. The role pays $37 per hour plus super and involves frontline customer service at the library desk.

You will assist patrons with borrowing, library systems, and services, while processing loans and maintaining shelves and displays. Experience in a public library environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering high-quality customer service in a public library.
• Ability to assist with borrowing procedures and using library systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication, and cross-cultural awareness.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing tasks.
• Adaptability to support library programs and community events.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality customer service at the library desk.
• Assist with borrowing procedures, library systems, and services.
• Process loans, holds and reservations in line with procedures.
• Shelving, stock maintenance and collection presentation.
• Support library programs and community events with the Library Team.
• Assist with displays and promotion of new library items.
