Job summary

Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) is partnering with Sydney Water to deliver a $34 billion program of works. We seek a proactive communications specialist to lead community engagement for major infrastructure projects in Sydney.

Qualifications

• Experience in communications, community engagement or public relations.
• Strong written communication with audience-focused content.
• Experience with social media and digital platforms.
• Background in infrastructure, government or similar industries.
• Excellent stakeholder management and prioritisation.
• Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, marketing or related field.
• Current driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver communication and community engagement plans for major infrastructure projects.
• Create engaging content across social media, digital channels, presentations and community materials.
• Build relationships with residents, businesses, community groups and stakeholders.
• Coordinate engagement activities, information sessions and stakeholder meetings.
• Manage customer enquiries, complaints and feedback with timely responses.
• Work with project teams to identify risks and support positive outcomes.
• Monitor effectiveness and provide improvement recommendations.
• Support reputation management and promote the D4C and Sydney Water brands.

About The Role

No two days are the same in this fast-paced, people-focused role.

You'll partner closely with project teams and Sydney Water stakeholders to deliver communication and community engagement activities that keep customers, residents and stakeholders informed and engaged throughout project delivery.

Whether you're developing communications campaigns, managing community enquiries, creating social content, coordinating events or supporting project teams through sensitive stakeholder issues, you'll be a trusted advisor helping us maintain strong relationships with the communities we serve.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop and deliver communication and community engagement plans for major infrastructure projects.
• Create engaging content across a range of channels, including social media, digital communications, presentations and community materials.
• Build strong relationships with local residents, businesses, community groups and key stakeholders.
• Coordinate community engagement activities, information sessions and stakeholder meetings.
• Manage customer enquiries, complaints and feedback, ensuring timely and professional responses.
• Work closely with project teams to identify risks, manage issues and support positive project outcomes.
• Monitor communication effectiveness and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Support reputation management initiatives and help promote the D4C and Sydney Water brands.

About You

We're looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, loves working with people and understands how to connect with diverse audiences.

You’ll bring:

• Experience in communications, community engagement, stakeholder relations, public relations, marketing or a related field.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear, engaging and audience-focused content.
• Confidence using social media and digital communication platforms to engage communities and stakeholders.
• Experience working in project-based environments such as infrastructure, construction, utilities, government or similar industries.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and confidence handling community enquiries and sensitive issues.
• Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Community Engagement or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• A current driver's licence.
