Job summary

Talison Lithium in Australia is seeking a site-based Communications and Network Engineer to provide specialist expertise across corporate IT and OT networks. You'll design, implement, support and continuously improve fibre, IP networks, Wi-Fi, radios and private LTE to keep operations safe and productive.

Working across IT and OT, you will balance hands-on support with project delivery, collaborating with operations, automation and technical teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, CS or equivalent.
• Experience in mining or operational environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, routing, switching and design.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for site communications and network infrastructure.
• Maintain and troubleshoot fibre, wireless, radio, LTE, and IP networking systems.
• Respond to incidents and resolve communications and network issues.
• Support infrastructure projects, upgrades, and new technology deployments.
• Contribute to solution design, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Collaborate with site operations, automation, and technical teams.
• Drive continuous improvement across communications and network environments.
• Ensure communications systems remain reliable, secure, and fit for purpose.

About the Role

Reporting to the IST Infrastructure Manager, the successful candidate will provide specialist technical expertise across Talison's Corporate IT and Operational Technology (OT) communications and network infrastructure. This hands‑on, site‑based role supports the critical communications systems that underpin mining operations, safety and production across site.

Working across both IT and OT environments, you will design, implement, support and continuously improve technologies including fibre and copper networks, routed IP networks, Wi‑Fi, digital radio, private LTE and point‑to‑point wireless systems. Combining operational support with project delivery and solution design, you will play a key role in ensuring our communications infrastructure remains reliable, secure and fit for purpose.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide operational support for site communications and network infrastructure

About the Candidate:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
• Experience in communications, telecommunications or network engineering, ideally within mining or other operational environments
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, including routing, switching and network design principles
• Hands‑on experience with wireless communications technologies, including digital radio, LTE and point‑to‑point wireless systems
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting communications and network infrastructure in high‑availability environments
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and operational stakeholders
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or equivalent will be highly regarded
• Exposure to Operational Technology (OT), industrial networking or radio communications environments will be advantageous
