Job summary

Talison Lithium is seeking an Occupational Hygiene Technician to support monitoring, evaluation and management of workplace health risks at the Greenbushes Lithium Operation.

You will provide high-quality hygiene services across operational areas, ensuring compliance with WHS Act and internal plans, while guiding risk controls and maintaining a safe work environment for all personnel, including contractors.

Qualifications

• Must have strong practical skills in hygiene instrumentation and sampling equipment.
• Familiar with WHS Act 2020, WHS (Mining) Regulations 2022 and DEMIRS guidance.
• Experience engaging with diverse work groups across site teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, calibrate and operate field and laboratory instruments for noise, heat, light, ventilation, humidity and air contaminants.
• Calibrate and service PPE fit testing equipment.
• Execute daily monitoring activities to ensure health monitoring plan compliance.
• Contribute to Health Risk Assessment and related management plans (HRA, HMP, Noise, Water).
• Data entry of monitoring results into Hygiene Database and SRS in a timely manner.
• Ensure personnel and contractors understand hygiene requirements and processes.
• Collaborate with Talison management to identify and mitigate health risks.

About The Role

We are seeking an Occupational Hygiene Technician to support the monitoring, evaluation and management of workplace health risks, including physical, chemical, radiological and biological hazards. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with legislative and internal standards through a risk-based approach.

You will provide high-quality occupational hygiene services across operational areas, delivering practical advice, guidance and support to help maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Responsibilities Include

• Maintain, calibrate and operate field and laboratory instruments designed to measure noise, heat, light, ventilation, humidity and air contaminants in the general work environment;
• Calibrate and organise servicing of all PPE fit testing equipment;
• Execute daily monitoring activities to ensure compliance with the approved Health Monitoring Plan (HMP);
• Contribute to the development and review of the site Health Risk Assessment (HRA), Health Management Plan (HMP), Noise Management Plan and Potable Water Quality Management Plan.
• Data entry of monitoring results into Talison’s Hygiene Database and SRS a timely manner;
• Ensure all personnel including contract partners are aware of occupational hygiene operational requirements and processes, assisting to achieve and exceed minimum compliance requirements; and
• Work collaboratively with all personnel, inclusive of Talison management, to identify and evaluate occupational health issues and advise on controls and risk mitigation strategies.

About The Candidate

• High level of technical and practical skills in occupational hygiene instrumentation and sampling equipment;
• Demonstrated practical application of legislation, standards & codes of practice relevant to occupational hygiene in accordance with the WHS Act 2020, WHS (Mining) Regulations 2022 and Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulations and Safety (DEMIRS); and
• Demonstrated familiarity with DEMIRS Reporting System (SRS); and
• Demonstrated experience in engagement & collaboration with all work groups.

Desirable Qualifications

• Accredited Noise Officer (WA);
• Certified Mine Air Quality Technician;
• Certified Mine Air Quality Officer;
• HPE and RPE Fit Testing Competency;
• Cert IV in Occupational Hygiene (or willingness to attain); and
• Internal Auditor (or willingness to attain).
