Job summary

Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a Communications and Engagement Officer to support media, digital, and engagement initiatives across the Shire. You will deliver strategic communications to inform the community, celebrate achievements, and build public trust.

Responsibilities include internal newsletters, responding to media enquiries, and creating on-brand content for social media and the website, plus design work using Adobe Creative Cloud and basic photography/video skills.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media, Marketing, or related discipline.
• Proven copywriting, editing, and storytelling across media releases, publications, and feature pieces.
• Experience managing website CMS platforms and corporate social media channels, supported by basic photography and multimedia editing skills.
• Practical experience utilising Adobe Creative Cloud software, including InDesign and Photoshop, to design accessible, on-brand collateral.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills to engage constructively with community members, multidisciplinary teams, and external media contacts.
• A current Class C Drivers Licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal communications and staff newsletters.
• Respond professionally to media enquiries and manage media relations.
• Produce engaging digital content across Council social media channels and website.
• Design on-brand publications using graphic design software.
• Capture photography and video collateral; assist in planning community consultation initiatives and civic events.
