Job summary

Landcare ACT seeks a Communications, Engagement and Outreach Manager to lead our communications, outreach and engagement initiatives across ACT programs. You will collaborate with the CEO and diverse stakeholders to share our story, coordinate projects and deliver education and community engagement events with a positive, uplifting tone.

You will oversee the communications team, leverage social media to extend reach, and ensure activities meet contractual obligations and demonstrate Landcare

Job description

The Communications, Engagement and Outreach Manager will be responsible in managing all communications, engagement and outreach in support of Landcare in the ACT. They will report to, and work closely with, the CEO, other staff, and diverse stakeholders to coordinate a variety of Landcare ACT programs and projects of various sizes, including the Community Stewardship and Environmental Education Program and the Upper Murrumbidgee WaterWatch Program. The selected individual will be able to confidently deliver on communications deliverables to effectively share our story, as well as creatively engage diverse communities through outreach. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience in outreach (preferably in the environment space), strong communications and social media skills, a passion for community engagement, and the ability to share stories in a positive and uplifting light. They will lead the communications, outreach, engagement and impact team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Communications Management

• Lead informing Landcare and the broader community through engaging communications materials.
• Wide use of Social and Online Media, including monitoring engagement data to maximise the reach.
• Plan and implement outreach activities to involve diverse groups and promote inclusion in Landcare and WaterWatch.
• Deliver engagement, education and communication events in line with contractual obligations.
• Survey participants to monitor event success and continuously improve.
• Assist with program coordination, tracking media and social media coverage and contributing to program evaluation
• Comply with contractual requirements across projects.

4. Strategic Planning

• Develop, review and refine the Outreach and Education Plan, and support individual Program/Project communication plans.

5. Impact data support, maintenance and use

• Lead summarising and utilisation of impact data for reporting and demonstration/sharing of Landcare impact.
• Ensure consistency with and link to the National Landcare Network Impact framework.

6. Stakeholder engagement and teamwork

• Develop positive and productive relationships with stakeholders.
• Work closely and constructively in the Communications Team, and with the broader Landcare ACT Team.
