Job summary

Country Needs People in Canberra is seeking a Digital Communications and Campaign Lead to tell the story of Indigenous-led land and sea management and to build support for Rangers, Protected Areas and caring for Country.

Working with the CEO and Communications team, you will develop engaging digital content, run campaigns across social channels, email, and web, and use data to improve reach and impact, with flexibility for full-time or 0.8–0.9 FTE and canberra preferred.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience using digital campaigns to engage and mobilise audiences.
  • Strong writing, editing and content-creation skills.
  • Experience managing organic and paid content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and Google Ads.
  • Experience with websites, email marketing and CRM systems.
  • Skills in visual content creation using Canva, Adobe CC or CapCut.

Responsibilities

  • Grow audiences and support advocacy, fundraising and public engagement campaigns.

Founded as a standaloneorganisationin 2020, we work with Indigenous land and sea management groups around Australia to deliver protection and good management of biodiversity and cultural values on land and sea. Our unique approach contributes to a truly sustainable economy andbenefitsall Australians.

We are a small team, with an office in Canberra and staff and contractors working in a combination of remote and in-office roles.

We work closely and strategically with Indigenous partners,Indigenous Ranger groups,governments,Traditional Owners,and other stakeholders to enhance the quantity,qualityand security of Indigenous-led natural and cultural values management. We combine:

  • strategic, non-partisan advocacy tostateand federal governments;
  • communications campaigns to build a broad public support base across Australia; and
  • collaborative project work andorganisationaladvice and support with andfor Indigenousland and sea managementorganisations.
ABOUT THE ROLE

The Digital Communications and Campaign Lead helps tell the story of Country Needs People’s work and inspires people to support Indigenous Rangers, Indigenous Protected Areas and caring for Country.

Working closely with our CEO, Communications Manager and wider team, you will develop engaging digital content and campaigns across social media, our website, email and paid advertising channels. Your work will support advocacy, fundraising, supporter engagement and organisational communications.

You will help translate our work into clear and compelling communications, grow our audiences, manage digital platforms and use campaign data to continually improve our reach and impact.

This is an opportunity to use your digital communications skills to help shape national conversations and build lasting support for Indigenous-led land and sea management.

ABOUT YOU

You are a creative and strategic digital communicator who combines strong storytelling skills with an understanding of audiences, data and campaign performance.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience using digital communications and campaigns to engage and mobilise audiences
  • Strong writing, editing and content-creation skills
  • Experience managing organic and paid content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and Google Ads
  • Experience with websites, email marketing and supporter databases or CRMs, such as NationBuilder or Swiftfox
  • Skills in visual content creation using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or CapCut
  • The ability to coordinate projects, manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues, partners and suppliers
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with an interest in emerging digital trends
  • A commitment to positive outcomes for Australia’s environment and Indigenous-led land and sea management.

A relevant qualification or equivalent professional experience—typically five or more years in a similar role—is expected. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations or stakeholders is desirable but not essential.
