Job summary

Mygration Pty Ltd is seeking a Commis Cook for a beloved artisan bakery in Alexandria, NSW. This full-time permanent role involves supporting the kitchen team with bread, pastry, and dessert prep, while upholding the highest standards of quality and food safety.

You will work early mornings, weekends and public holidays, with a strong emphasis on HACCP practices, attention to detail, and a passion for traditional baking techniques.

Qualifications

• 2 years' full-time experience in related position, with a strong interest in baking/pastry.
• Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or above) is preferred.
• Foundational understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required in a bakery environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality food.
• Strong understanding of food safety standards (HACCP) and hygiene best practices.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced, hot environment.
• Bakery experience is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, measuring, and weighing of ingredients for breads, pastries, and other bakery items according to exact specifications.
• Perform basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, mixing, and shaping doughs under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.
• Support the monitoring of fermentation and proofing processes for optimal results.
• Help maintain consistent quality by following established recipes and procedures diligently.
• Assist with taste-testing preparations and ensure workstation is stocked and organised.
• Support the packaging and presentation of finished products as required.
• Conduct thorough cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen equipment, work areas, utensils, and baking trays to comply with health and safety regulations.
• Assist in the safe operation and basic maintenance of kitchen machinery and tools.
• Ensure proper storage of ingredients and adherence to stock rotation procedures.

In this role, you will provide essential support in the preparation and production of high-quality baked goods and kitchen items, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and food safety.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
