Job summary

The Anchorage Hotel & Spa, part of The Wests Group Australia, is seeking a Casual Commis Chef for The Galley Kitchen at Port Stephens. You will support a busy culinary team, assist with prep, and help deliver exceptional dining experiences in a coastal hotel setting.

Candidates should be passionate about food, eager to learn, and able to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is required.
• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
• Passion for food and hospitality, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Join The Galley Kitchen culinary team as a Casual Commis Chef.
• Assist chefs with food preparation and kitchen tasks.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Casual Commis Chef to join our talented culinary team at The Galley Kitchen.

About You

You're passionate about food, eager to learn and enjoy working as part of a supportive team. Whether you're recently qualified or building on your kitchen experience, you're ready to develop your skills in a professional hotel environment while helping deliver exceptional dining experiences.

You'll bring:

• A current Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment (preferred)
• A genuine passion for food and hospitality
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced chefs
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
• Understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene and safe work practices
• The ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
• Reliable availability, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
