Job summary

Synergy, based in Western Australia, is seeking a Commercial Advisor to support the Wholesale Contracts portfolio of gas and electricity. The role focuses on analytical, commercial, and contractual input to guide strategic decisions and optimise contract performance.

The role requires experience in contract management or energy markets, with strong interpretation of complex contracts and excellent stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years proven experience in contract management, commercial analysis, or energy markets, with exposure to gas (electricity market experience desirable).
• Strong capability to interpret complex contracts and translate them into clear, actionable commercial insights.
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (commercial, economics, business, finance, or law).
• Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively; experience supporting negotiations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial analysis and advice on gas and electricity contracts, identifying risks, opportunities, and optimisation strategies.
• Support contract management and administration, ensuring obligations are understood, monitored, and accurately documented.
• Assess market and regulatory impacts and deliver clear, actionable insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Support transactions and negotiations, including bilateral trading, RFQs, and preparation of commercial analysis and briefing materials.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to continuous improvement of contract processes, systems, and data quality.
