Job summary

Atlas Partners | Accountancy & Finance Specialists in Melbourne's east seeks a hands-on finance lead to own the function for a growing, project-based business. You’ll manage from transaction to report and partner with the CEO on commercial decisions.

You’ll be on site four days a week and spend one day with the group finance team, reporting to the CEO and Group CFO. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA qualified with project-based accounting experience.
• Hands-on payroll experience required.
• Experience in manufacturing, construction, trades or project-based business is ideal.
• Ability to explain numbers to non-finance stakeholders and use AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Job costing, WIP and job profitability: margin vs actual on every job.
• Monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasting, budgets and reforecasts.
• End-to-end payroll: awards, super, STP, onboarding and terminations.
• Progress claims, invoicing, retentions and debtor follow-up.
• BAS, IAS, super, payroll tax and workers' comp lodged on time.
• Pricing, quoting and capex analysis for leadership.
• Build better controls and processes, using AI where it helps.
• Lead one Accounts Officer.
• Report to the CEO and the Group CFO.

Own the finance function, not just a piece of it.

A growing, project-based business in Melbourne's east needs a hands-on finance lead. It's part of a larger, well-established group and delivers residential and commercial projects nationally. The owner is entrepreneurial and backs growth, so there's plenty happening.

You'll run finance from transaction to report and be the commercial partner the CEO relies on. You'll be on site four days a week, and spend one day a week with the group finance team.

The Role

• Job costing, WIP and job profitability: quoted margin vs actual, on every job
• Monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasting, budgets and reforecasts
• End-to-end payroll: awards, super, STP, onboarding and terminations
• Progress claims, invoicing, retentions and debtor follow-up
• BAS, IAS, super, payroll tax and workers' comp, lodged on time

About You

• CA/CPA qualified
• Job costing or project accounting experience from manufacturing, construction, trades or another project-based business
• Hands-on payroll experience
• Strong on Xero and Excel. You already use AI tools or want to.
• Commercial enough to explain the numbers to people who aren't finance people
