Job summary

Optus is seeking a Commercial Contracts Manager in Adelaide to draft, review, and negotiate customer contracts and to support the Optus Wholesale Division with legal and commercial documentation. You will oversee pre-signing contract milestones and help manage legal risk and compliance with internal policies and relevant legislation.

Qualifications

• Legal drafting experience and a law degree or equivalent qualifications.
• Extensive experience in contract drafting, negotiation, risk management, compliance and governance.
• Ability to draft bespoke legal and commercial terms without precedents.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Contracts preparation & negotiation - Drafting and negotiation of all customer contracts, including standard and bespoke agreements, variation agreements, promotion letters, notices, novation agreements, settlement agreements and termination agreements.
• Compliance - Drafting and negotiating contracts to align with the applicable Sale Contracts Policy and applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Legal support - Working closely with the Legal team, the Commercial Contracts Manager provides the first level of legal support and guidance to the Optus Wholesale Division.
• Credit and legal risk control - Ensuring commercial contracts minimise Optus' exposure to operational, legal, financial and credit risks.
• Regulatory engagement - Interface with Optus' regulatory team on key regulatory issues affecting Optus involving strategic, operational, technical and legal compliance issues.
• Leadership - Being a trusted advisor and partner to the Optus Wholesale Division, providing legal and commercial guidance to support sound decision-making and risk mitigation (working with the Legal team).
• Process improvement - Implementing and continually improving the contract governance process which tracks contracts end-to-end from contract draft request to signing.
