Job summary

Optus is seeking a Commercial Contracts Manager to draft, review and negotiate customer contracts, and to support the Optus Wholesale Division in diverse legal and commercial contract matters. You will oversee pre-signing activities and ensure regulatory compliance and risk management across contracts.

Key requirements include a law degree, extensive drafting and negotiation experience, and the ability to draft bespoke terms with minimal precedents. Telecommunications familiarity is desirable.

Qualifications

• Legal drafting experience with a law degree or equivalent qualifications.
• Extensive years of relevant experience in contract drafting, negotiation, legal risk management, compliance, and governance.
• Ability to draft bespoke legal and commercial terms without precedents.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision or assistance.
• Commercial foundations and business acumen.
• Understanding of telecommunications operations or wholesale environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Drafting and negotiation of all customer contracts, including standard and bespoke agreements, variation agreements, and termination agreements.
• Drafting and negotiating contracts to align with applicable policies and legal/regulatory frameworks.
• Provide first-level legal support and guidance to the Optus Wholesale Division.
• Ensure commercial contracts minimise exposure to operational, legal, financial and credit risks.
• Interface with regulatory teams on key regulatory issues affecting Optus.
• Act as a trusted advisor and partner to the Wholesale Division, providing legal and commercial guidance.
• Implement and improve the contract governance process from draft to signing.
