Job summary

North Construction & Building on the Central Coast welcomes first, second, and third-year commercial construction apprentices. This is a structured four-year program designed to develop you into a well-rounded construction professional beyond the tools.

You will receive mentorship from an Apprentice Manager, exposure to plans, site safety, quality checks, subcontractor coordination, and opportunities to progress toward supervision and leadership roles within the commercial sector.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have genuine interest in construction and the built environment.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Driver's licence with access to own transport is required.
• Unrestricted rights to live and work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a four-year structured program across carpentry and construction.

North Construction & Building is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as first year, second- or third-year Commercial Construction Apprentices.

Whether you're a recent school leaver or looking for a hands-on career pathway, this is your opportunity to start your construction career with an award-winning commercial builder.

This isn't your typical carpentry apprenticeship.

We're looking for people who have a long-term goal to become future supervisors, project leaders and industry professionals in the commercial building industry. From day one, you'll be supported by a dedicated Apprentice Manager to develop practical trade skills while gaining exposure to the broader aspects of commercial construction that will set you apart throughout your career.

We're not simply training carpenters. We're developing individuals to be Norths next generation of supervisors and construction leaders.

About the role

Seeking candidates living within the Central Coast, Newcastle & Hunter regions.

Most importantly, you'll need to understand that this apprenticeship is about more than just being on the tools. The North structured 4 apprentice year program is designed to develop you into a well-rounded construction professional by exposing you to a wide range of activities beyond hammer and nails. It's about building a future-focused skill set, embracing innovation, adapting to industry trends, and developing the capabilities needed for a successful long-term career in an ever-evolving construction industry.

While you'll learn the fundamentals of carpentry and large-scale construction, you'll also gain experience in:

• Reading construction plans and drawings
• Site safety and construction systems
• Quality management and defect inspections
• Subcontractor coordination and communication
• Building methodology and project delivery
• Problem solving and teamwork on active commercial sites
• Contributing to exciting, award winning commercial construction projects

This approach differs from a traditional carpentry apprenticeship and is designed to provide a broader understanding of the commercial construction industry and the pathways available within it.
