Job summary

Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) is seeking a 1st Year Civil Construction Apprentice for a full-time role on the Central Coast. You will be employed by CCGT and placed with a host employer to complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Civil Construction (General).

This is a 40-hour week with an RDO, typically 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime possible. Start ASAP; hands-on learning across diverse civil projects.

1st Year Civil Construction Apprentice | Central Coast NSW | Full-time | Start ASAP

The Opportunity

CCGT is looking for a 1st Year Civil Construction Apprentice to join an established civil construction company working across a variety of infrastructure projects on the Central Coast.

The Host Employer has been operating for more than 30 years, delivering civil infrastructure projects for both private and government clients. With different projects, worksites and tasks, this is a great opportunity to build broad experience rather than doing the same thing every day.

You will be employed by Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) and placed with the Host Employer for your day-to-day work. CCGT will support you throughout your apprenticeship while you complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Civil Construction (General).

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week with an RDO, generally 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Overtime may also be available.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

Your first few months will focus on learning site safety, getting familiar with tools and equipment, understanding how civil sites operate and helping the crew with day-to-day tasks.

As your skills grow, you’ll learn how to:

• Assist with excavation, backfilling and site preparation
• Help with pipelaying and general civil construction work
• Spot machinery and work safely around plant and equipment
• Use hand tools, power tools and construction equipment
• Support tradespeople and plant operators on civil projects
• Assist with signage, fencing and site set-up
• Carry out site clean-up and general labouring
• Take part in toolbox talks and daily safety procedures
• Work across different civil infrastructure projects and locations

This is a physically active role involving outdoor work, manual handling and heavy lifting.

You will not be expected to know everything on day one. The goal is to listen, ask questions, work safely and keep building your skills.

Pay

This is a paid, full-time apprenticeship. Current first-year apprentice rates are:

• $17.97 per hour, or approximately $682.77 per week for 1st Year Apprentice
• $23.86 per hour, or approximately $906.59 per week for 2nd Year Apprentice
• $28.28 per hour, or approximately $1074.45 per week for 3rd Year Apprentice

Rates are before tax and based on the applicable apprenticeship classification. Your exact rate will be confirmed before an employment offer is made. Superannuation and any applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances are paid in addition. Once qualified your earning capacity can be up to $130,000 per year.
