Job summary

Ecove Group, a leading Sydney-based property development and construction group, seeks a Commercial Analyst to move from advisory into hands-on industry work shaping investment decisions and project performance. You will evaluate opportunities, build business cases, model scenarios and support budgeting.

Ideal candidates have 3–7 years in a Big 4, a Commerce/Finance degree, CA/CPA/CFA progress, and advanced Excel.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years' experience within a Big 4 firm in Corporate Finance or related commercial discipline.
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
• CA, CPA or CFA qualification (or progression towards qualification).
• Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience building complex financial models.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A commercially curious mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and influence outcomes.
• Experience within property, infrastructure, construction or capital-intensive industries will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support acquisition assessments and due diligence activities.
• Undertake financial capacity assessments on contractors.
• Develop investment papers, business cases and Board reporting materials.
• Conduct scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decision‑making.

• Partner with project delivery and construction teams to monitor project budgets, forecasts and risks.
• Identify commercial opportunities to improve project outcomes and organisational performance.
• Assist with strategic planning, annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Deliver insightful management reporting and performance analysis to senior leadership.
• Support financing activities, lender reporting and capital management initiatives.

Are you a high-performing Commercial Analyst currently working within a Big 4 professional services firm and looking to take your career into industry? We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded professional to join our growing property development and construction business, where you will play a key role in shaping investment decisions, driving project performance and supporting strategic growth initiatives.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Project Directors, the Commercial Analyst will provide critical financial and commercial insights across the development lifecycle and organisation.

You will evaluate potential investment opportunities, identify and implement process and performance improvements, develop business cases, evaluate project feasibility, analyse project performance and support key strategic and operational decision‑making.

The role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence the commercial success of a growing development portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
