Job summary

Talent Web Recruitment in Sydney is seeking a senior commercial finance leader to partner directly with the CFO and CEO. You will own commercial performance and BI/data insights across a multi-hundred-million-dollar construction business, shaping reporting and analytics to drive profitable decisions.

You will lead budgeting, forecasting and KPI development, and own the BI roadmap with Power BI and SQL. A pragmatic, influential leader with strong commercial judgement will thrive here.

The opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created role at the centre of a substantial Australian construction business.

Reporting directly to the CFO and partnering closely with the CEO, you will connect commercial finance, operational performance and enterprise data to help the organisation make faster, better and more profitable decisions.

The position spans two connected streams: Commercial Finance and BI & Data Insights. You will bring structure to performance management, convert complex information into clear commercial actions and build the reporting and analytics capability required to support continued growth.

This is a visible leadership position for someone who can challenge assumptions, influence executive decisions and remain close enough to the detail to deliver meaningful change.

The role

• Partner with the CFO, CEO and business leaders on performance, margin, risk, investment decisions and strategic priorities
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, KPI development and commercial performance reporting
• Own the BI roadmap, using Power BI and SQL to create scalable dashboards, trusted datasets and actionable insights
• Analyse project and operational performance, identifying margin leakage, cost drivers, productivity opportunities and emerging risks
• Improve data governance, reporting processes and decision-support tools across finance and operations
• Lead and develop a team of approximately one to three while building stronger commercial capability across the wider business

About you

• A senior commercial finance, analytics or business performance leader with the credibility to operate as a CFO's 2IC
• Advanced Power BI and SQL capability, with a track record of personally developing meaningful business intelligence
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to translate complex data into concise recommendations for executives and non-finance stakeholders
• Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, property, contracting or another project-based environment will be highly regarded
• Demonstrated success improving forecasting, project profitability, margin visibility, KPI frameworks and management reporting
• A pragmatic, curious and influential leadership style, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications; CA, CPA or equivalent is advantageous
