Job summary

ALS is seeking a Full-time Coal Quality Tester in Gladstone, QLD to join our laboratory team on a rotating 8-hour shift roster. You will support coal sampling, testing and lab operations while upholding safety and quality standards.

We value attention to detail, strong communication and reliability; previous coal testing or lab experience is highly regarded and a valid driver’s licence is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development and continual improvement of quality systems and procedures.
  • Sort bags of samples (up to 16 kg).
  • Operate sample preparation equipment (weighing scales, crushers, pulverisers).
  • Perform routine manual tasks in a coal processing environment.
  • Process samples efficiently without compromising accuracy or quality.
  • Perform general laboratory duties including cleaning and maintenance of work areas.
  • Adhere to Quality Work Instructions and SOPs.
  • Prioritise safety and efficient turnaround of test results.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organised lab and work area.

Join ALS Coal – Gladstone, QLD as a Full-time Coal Quality Tester!
About the Position:

An excellent opportunity for Full‑time Coal Quality Tester to join the laboratory at our Gladstone , working on a rotating 8HR shift roster including morning and afternoon shifts.

You’ll play a key role in supporting coal sampling, testing, and laboratory operations while contributing to the success of our site.

Day to Day
  • Contribute to the development, review, and continual improvement of quality systems and procedures
  • Sorting bags of samples (weighing up to 16kg)
  • Operating sample preparation equipment (weighing scales, crushers, pulverisers, etc.)
  • Performing routine manual tasking in a coal processing environment
  • Process samples efficiently without compromising accuracy or quality
  • Perform general laboratory duties, including cleaning and maintenance of work areas
  • Adhering strictly to Quality Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prioritising safety and efficient turnaround of test results.
  • Maintaining a clean, well‑organised lab and work area.
