Job summary

ALS Coal is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for a permanent part-time role at the Callide Mine site in Queensland. The role involves routine coal sampling, testing and various lab duties, with travel to other mine sites as required. A flexible attitude and commitment to safety are essential.

Applicants should be able to work well unsupervised at times, wear full PPE, and hold a valid driver's license. The position operates on a family-friendly roster with potential shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine coal sampling and testing
• Perform physical tests including sizing, crushing, dividing samples
• Coal preparation and despatch – loading/unloading samples
• Day to day laboratory duties and sample preparation
• Maintaining equipment and adhering to safety protocols
• Collaborating with team members across sites; travel to other mine sites as part of the shift
• Manual handling

Your day-to-day:

• Conducting routine coal sampling and testing
• A range of physical tests including, sizing, crushing, dividing samples
• Coal Preparation
• Despatch – Loading and unloading samples from various plant streams
• Day to day Laboratory duties
• Assisting with sample preparation and analysis
• Maintaining equipment and adhering to safety protocols
• Collaborating with team members across different sites as required
• Travel to other mine sites as part of the shift
• Manual handling

The Essentials:

• Previous experience in a Laboratory or mine setting would be advantageous not essential
• Can do attitude is a must
• Flexible and adaptable to work extra shifts
• A strong focus on safety & Quality
• Ability work alone and un-supervised at times.
