Job summary

JBS Townsville is seeking Co-Products Labourers to operate rendering equipment and process animal by-product materials into tallow, grease, blood meal and protein meal. You will work in a full-time rotating shift roster, ensuring hygienic production of rendered products.

Ideal candidates communicate well, work independently, stay physically fit and demonstrate reliability and a positive attitude. Q Fever vaccination is preferred, with full working rights in Australia.

Job description

JBS Townsville is currently recruiting several Co-Products Labourers (By-Products) to join the team in a full-time capacity. As a Co-Products Labourer, you will use rendering equipment to process animal by-product materials for the production of tallow, grease, blood meal, and high-protein bone meal. The rendering process simultaneously dries the material and separates the fat from the bone and protein, yielding a fat commodity and a protein meal. Rendering is a process that converts waste animal tissue into stable, usable materials.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Operating the tallow processing plant
• Operating the continuous cooker
• Operating the press
• Producing rendered products in a hygienic manner
• Assisting in the By-Products plant to process meat and bone meal, tallow and gall

About You

• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team environment
• Fit for physical work
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Have been Q Fever vaccinated or willing to have vaccination
• Full working rights in Australia
• Experience in the red meat industry advantageous
• Available to work as part of a rotating shift team; Monday to Friday; up to 24 hours coverage
